La narradora de esta historia, una viuda que trabaja en una residencia de ancianos en Corea del Sur, se ve obligada a compartir su pequeña vivienda con su hija treintañera y la novia de esta, cuya relación no aprueba.Pronto, las recriminaciones y prejuicios de la madre hacen aflorar viejos y nuevos conflictos entre las tres, provocando que la convivencia sea cada vez más difícil. Una situación que empeora en paralelo a la precarización de la vida laboral de la protagonista, quien comienza a cuestionarse el trato inhumano que reciben las ancianas en el centro en el que trabaja.En Sobre mi hija asistimos a las dudas y contradicciones de unos personajes vulnerables que intentan sobrevivir en un mundo cada vez más alienado e individualista. Kim Hye-jin ha escrito una novela sutil y conmovedora sobre los lazos familiares, la incomunicación intergeneracional, la homofobia y el trato que dispensamos a nuestros mayores.

Kim Hye-jin김혜진

Kim Hye-jin debuted with the short-story “Chicken Run,” which was the prizewinning work of the 2012 Dong-a Ilbo New Writer’s Contest. She has authored the novels Central Station, Concerning My Daughter, The Work of No. 9, the novella Fire and My Autobiography, and the short story collections Eobi and A Life Called You. She has received the 2013 JoongAng Ilbo Award for Long-form Fiction, the 2018 Shin Dong-yup Prize for Literature, the 2020 Daesan Literary Award, and the 2020 Lee Hochul Literary Prize for Peace Special Award. The English translation of Concerning My Daughter is forthcoming from Picador in 2022.
