Description 작품 소개

"Don't You Use That Molten Steel" became a bestselling poetry collection after its publication. It will interest readers looking for experimental yet accessible poetry, concise yet evocative poems that naturally lend themselves to social media, and socially-conscious Korean literature.

On September 7, 2010, a South Korean newspaper reported the death of a young worker who fell into a furnace at a steel plant. Shortly after the article appeared, an anonymous Internet user posted a poem mourning the man's death in the comment section. The poem went viral and sparked a nationwide debate on poor working conditions and safety standards.

The user continued to leave poetic comments on news stories under the screen name "Geppetto" for the next seven years, until a publisher decided to compile 131 of the poems and the news articles that inspired them into a collection.

Geppetto responds not so much to international headlines as to news about society's weakest and most vulnerable members. Geppetto's work grieves, remembers, and imagines the lives that might easily have been buried under today's relentlessly fast turnover of news.
