The eight stories in Kim Yi-seol's 2010 debut collection "What No One Tells You" feature characters caught in desperate circumstances: a young homeless girl comes of age while living at a train station; a college girl becomes a surrogate to help pay off her father's enormous debt; a wife is diagnosed with uterine cancer and must give up her dream of having a baby; an abandoned girl is sexually exploited by an older man she calls Daddy; and a mother turns to prostitution to support her family.

Author Bio 작가 소개

Kim Yi-seol has published the novels Bad Blood, Welcome, and Seonhwa and the short story collections What No One Tells You and Quiet Like Today. She received the Hwang Sun-won Literary Award for New Literature. Welcome has been translated into French (Philippe Picquier, 2012) and German (Cass, 2015).
