Kim Yu is a South Korean children's literature writer. She studied creative writ-ing at Seoul Arts University and Korean language and literature at Korea University. She received the 17th Changbi Good Children's Book Award for her work "My Name is Gugu Sneakers" in 2013. The story features the resilient protagonist Gugu, who doesn't give up despite losing her parents. The work is characterized by the active narrative de-velopment where the child protagonist actively confronts and resolves the events. It also incorporates humor, giving an overall lively and warm feeling.
